Potomac Valley Hospital is a 25 bed, full-service Critical Access Hospital employing two hundred area residents and extending privilege to nine physicians, one general surgeon, an anesthesiologist and full time radiology coverage. The medical staff includes a Director of Emergency Medicine who oversees a rotating staff of physicians specializing in emergency medicine who reside on the premises.

The mission of Potomac Valley Hospital is to provide quality, efficient and cost effective health care services to the people of Mineral County and the surrounding area, either through the provision of direct services or through collaborative arrangements with other health care organizations. Potomac Valley Hospital is committed to meeting the health care needs of the service area through the operation of the hospital itself, and all related organizations.

Potomac Valley Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission, an internationally recognized organization whose mission is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations. Potomac Valley has been accredited by The Joint Commission for over 25 years.

The services provided by this facility for pediatrics through geriatrics include:

  • Patient Care- Emergency Care, Medical-Surgical, Intensive Coronary, Respite, Hospice, and Rural Health Care
  • Surgery- General, Same Day and Endoscopy Procedures
  • Therapy- Cardiac and Physical
  • Diagnostic- Laboratory, Radiologic, Nuclear Medicine, Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT Scans), Electrocardiography, Pulmonary Studies, Doppler Flow Studies, Mammography and Bone Density Studies and Ultrasound.

    The hospital is located within the city of Keyser, WV and is bounded by U.S. Highway 220, a heavy traffic route which is one of the main routes through Mineral County. Mineral County's topography is characterized by broadly rolling uplands with prominent ridges and deep cut stream valleys. Mineral County is in the rural census tract of the Cumberland metropolitan area with the Maryland counties of Allegany and Garrett to the North and West. Hampshire and Grant Counties, in West Virginia boarder to the east and south.



    Mid Atlantic Health Management, Inc., a related organization, functions as the hospitals home office and directs the operational and financial management of the hospital.
