OUR HISTORY
Potomac Valley Hospital was established in1903 by Dr. Hoffman. It was located on Fort Avenue and Spring Street in Keyser. It was build at a cost of $15,000 and was know then as Hoffman Hospital. The facility was purchased by the Bess family Dr. Robert W. Bess Sr. and Dr. Thomas Bess in 1926. Members the Bess family still serve the hospital where Dr. Robert W. Bess Jr. is the current Medical Director and his son Dr. Charles Bess) is on staff as a Family Physician.

The current Potomac Valley Hospital was constructed in 1931 as a 2 story building, at a cost of $250,000. Over the years, many expansions occurred, including the addition of the Third floor in 1966 and an Annex in 1976. PVH was then sold to Dr. Robert McCoy in 1958 who operated the facility until it was purchased by Harold McBee, Sr.
